Guerilla Disc - An Artist Label
Guerilla Disc began as a production company and is an artist label developed to release artistic music and instructional recordings. It's based in Seattle, Washington. Its history is linked to the long running series of events called Wine, Women & Chocolate. These productions celebrated Pacific Northwest women musicians and songwriters as well as having complimentary chocolates and a wine tasting. Previous projects included the Wine, Women & Chocolate tour of Sunmay, Felina and Sheryl Diane Shumsky (Oct 2005), the previous (2004) EP "Blackberry Love" and two Halloween tunes on myspace called "Zombie Walk"(2006) and "Git Yo Freak On" (2009) soon -- a full length recording from Sheryl Diane's new collaboration of musicians: Bowling With Shumpy! is pending release in October (2010) called "Dream Carnival."
Sheryl Diane Shumsky - Keyboardist/Vocalist
Sheryl Diane Shumsky: born in Montana, moved west in ’89 after some formative years in Bozeman, DJ-ing at college radio station, KGLT and thereby baptizing herself in all manner of music especially; XTC, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, Minnie Ripperton, Joni Mitchell, and jazz; Sarah Vaughn, Betty Carter, Billie Holiday, Tom Scott, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane.
Sheryl Diane, a descendant of 4 generations of maternal piano players, was destined to wield the light-weight hammers and divide her time between mothering and the pursuit of a music career. She graduated from Fairhaven College with a self-designed degree, Aural Media, ('91); relocated to Seattle ('92); performed solo, started a band (The Figs '98), produced a long running women’s songwriter series, (Wine, Women & Chocolate '00-'05), finally left the day-job to become a sought-after piano teacher, and developed a first recording, (Blackberry Love EP '03); all while raising offspring with Joe "Bass" Skyward (most known for his work with Jeremy Enigk and previously, The Posies, and Sky Cries Mary).
Sheryl's put together a collaboration of musicians to build the album, Dream Carnival. This collaboration is called Bowling With Shumpy! and features: Sheryl Diane, keyboard; Woogie D, drums; & various others. As the recording progresses the newly finished tracks will be posted on myspace for immediate access. (see also the P X tab here on the website to see what's new) -- 7-1-10
